HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO BE BEST FRIENDS WITH A TEACHER EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE OLDER THAN YOU AND THEY’RE YOUR TEACHER THE STRUGGLE IS REAL
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had crazy kinda premonition kinda experiences. Sometimes when I daydream off or during an actual sleepy dream, I’ll imagine or see places I’ve never been before.
The craziest experience I’ve had is a dream where I was talking to some of my family (they were not visible) and there were a lot of blurry lights at a set level above the ground to the right of me. There was one, large, green light that I remember the most.
A few months later I went to Ocean City, Maryland (for the first time ever) with my aunt, uncle and a cousin-in-law. We spent the day on the boardwalk and it was a lot of fun. When we were heading home we had some trouble in traffic and had to double back along the main road a few times. On one of the trips, I noticed a big, green Holiday Inn sign with a whole bunch of other signs and street lights scattered around it. It looked exactly like the dream and I had a ton of déjá vu at that every moment.
I realize that Holiday Inns are fairly common, so it’s possible that I had seen one before. But the image of that sign and its surrounding matched up so well with my dream it was eerie.
Have you ever had any weird future-seeing-type experiences?

This is a really cool take on how Minecraft would work ‘realistically’. Love it!
Hooooooooooooooooooooly fuck that’s awesome.
Literally the best interpretation of Minecraft I have ever seen I really want more.
If a mathematician wants to cross a road, they will think carefully about their optimal path. The total distance of the path should be minimised, but they prefer walking on the sidewalk to the road. If there is no extra discomfort from being on the road, the best path is a straight line, but as it increases it is better to cross the road more directly. The resulting path is exactly the same as a ray of light refracting through a block of glass [with relative refractive index equal to the ratio of these ‘discomfort levels’]. Fermat’s principle says that light will want to spend less time in the glass (on the road), as it actually travels more slowly in the glass. [video] [code] [more]
I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed to say I do this all the time.
Granted, I generally think more about whether it is safe to cross than what my optimal path is, but this is still interesting to think about.
Whenever I do this, I always try to get to my destination via a triangle and think to myself, “Pythagoras would be proud!” yolo.

Symmetrium by Niko Luoma
Luoma on his work:
My material is light. The work focuses on energy rather than matter. My work is about the process as much as about the result.
My process combines systems of calculation and change. I find my inspiration in mathematics and geometry; symmetry and chaos, both imagined and found in nature…
In my recent “symmetrium” series, time reveals the process through thousands of exposures on a single negative.
